In 2024, global cookie exports reached an estimated US$12.5 billion.
This represents a 46.7% increase compared to 2020, when total sweet biscuit exports stood at $8.5 billion.
On a year-over-year basis, global cookie exports rose by 4.3%, up from $12 billion in 2023.
Also known as sweet biscuits in many parts of the world, cookies remain one of the most popular snack foods globally.
According to Tendata, favorites in the United States include chocolate chip, peanut butter, oatmeal raisin, white chocolate, sugar, and shortbread cookies.
Leading Exporters
The world's top five cookie exporters in 2024 were Mexico, the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, and Italy.
Together, these five suppliers accounted for nearly 40% (39.8%) of global cookie export value.
From a regional perspective, Europe dominated the international cookie trade, exporting goods worth $7 billion—about 56.4% of total global sales.
Asia ranked second, contributing 19.2%, followed closely by North America with 17.3%.
Smaller shares came from Latin America (4.2%)—excluding Mexico but including the Caribbean—Africa (2.1%), and Oceania (0.8%), led by Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji.
