Compared with $19.5 billion in 2021, the value of Latvia's exports increased by 14.1% over five years. On a year-over-year basis, Latvian export sales also climbed by 12.4% from $19.74 billion in 2024.
Using the euro as its official currency, Latvia was also affected by exchange-rate movements in 2025. The euro appreciated by 4.4% against the US dollar compared with the previous year, making Latvian exports slightly more expensive for overseas buyers using weaker US-dollar-based currencies.
Latvia's Main Export Markets
The latest country-level trade statistics show that 72.2% of Latvia's exports were purchased by importers in Lithuania, Estonia, Germany, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Russia, Poland, Denmark, the Netherlands, Finland, France, and the United States.
Among these markets, Lithuania remained Latvia's largest export destination, accounting for 18.6% of total exports. Estonia followed with 11.4%, while Germany represented 6.7% of Latvian export value.
From a regional perspective, Europe remained the dominant destination for Latvia's exports, receiving 85.2% of total shipment value. Asian markets accounted for 6.9%, while Africa absorbed around 4%.
Smaller portions of Latvia's exports were directed to North America, Latin America, and Oceania, including Australia and New Zealand.
Latvia officially joined the European Union on May 1, 2004. In 2025, fellow EU member states purchased 70.1% of Latvia's exports, up from 68.9% in 2024.
With a population of approximately 1.9 million people, Latvia's total exports in 2025 translated to nearly $11,900 per capita, exceeding the previous year's average of around $10,900 per resident.

Together, Latvia's top 10 export categories represented approximately 61.3% of the country's total export value in 2025.
Among the leading sectors, dairy products, eggs, and honey recorded the fastest annual growth, surging by 36% from 2024 to 2025. Mineral fuels including oil ranked second with a 32.7% increase, while vehicles posted a 23.3% rise in export value.
The only major export category showing a decline was cereals, which fell by 6.6% year over year.
