Global Rice Exports by Country & Company in 2025 - Tendata

In 2025, the total value of rice exports worldwide reached approximately US$33.6 billion. Compared with 2024, when global rice shipments were valued at $27.5 billion, this represented a strong 22.1% increase.

Despite the annual growth, global rice export value declined by 17.5% over the longer five-year period, down from $40.7 billion recorded in 2021.

The world’s five leading rice exporters—India, Thailand, Vietnam, Pakistan, and the United States—together generated about 71.1% of total global rice export revenue during 2025.

Looking at exports by region, Asian countries dominated the global rice trade, supplying nearly 78.1% of worldwide exports with shipments valued at roughly $26.2 billion. Europe ranked second with an 8.4% share, followed by North America at 5.85% and Latin America excluding Mexico but including the Caribbean at 5.8%.

Smaller portions came from exporters located in Africa (1.1%) and Oceania (0.75%), mainly Australia.

For customs classification purposes, the 4-digit Harmonized Tariff System (HTS) code for rice is 1006.

The following countries recorded the highest export values for rice in 2025:

1. India: US$12 billion (35.9% of total rice exports)

2. Thailand: $4.5 billion (13.4%)

3. Vietnam: $3 billion (8.9%)

4. Pakistan: $2.4 billion (7.2%)

5. United States: $1.9 billion (5.7%)

6. Cambodia: $1.6 billion (4.7%)

7. mainland China: $986.6 million (2.9%)

8. Italy: $931 million (2.8%)

9. Myanmar: $919.9 million (2.7%)

10. Uruguay: $537.6 million (1.6%)

11. Belgium: $508.3 million (1.5%)

12. Netherlands: $470.2 million (1.4%)

13. Brazil: $457.9 million (1.4%)

14. Paraguay: $364.6 million (1.1%)

15. Guyana: $267.4 million (0.8%)

Combined, these 15 countries accounted for 91.9% of global rice exports in 2025.

Among the top exporters, the countries achieving export growth compared with 2024 included:
